DEMENTED ELVES- IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STORY

What is a Demented Elf Award?

In the interest of promoting unique plot twists and overall creative story telling, the Demented Elves gives an award to those stories, books, movies, and the what not, that demonstrate distinctive, extraordinary, and/or demented story elements.

PERRY MASON:  CASE OF THE FATAL FASHION

Picture
While this particular made for TV movie does not deviate much from the Perry Mason template, it did have a fun and different story element.  The writers decided that Perry's hired hand, Ken Melansky, would team up with a mob hood whose boss is a closet fashion designer.  This story element lent a fresh and amusing angle to the tried but effective story lines of the franchise.  While the rest of the story does not particularly stand out in our minds, this particular element and it's potential for all sorts of demented directions the movie could have taken, Demented Elves has chosen this element for a Demented Elf Award

SPECIAL AWARD:  DILBERT

Picture
It is hard to tell a story in four frames or less.  It is even harder to be consistently demented day in and day out.  Whether it is Dilbert and his problem solving skills, Wally and his anti-social antics, or Alice and her "fist of death," this daily comic strip consistently delivers.  They key to humor, is the unexpected but certainly relatable, and Dilbert does that, in ways that one would cause shudder if it was real life.  Therefore, this strip has been chosen for a Demented Elf Award.
